6.3 Non-Linear Regressions

Not all trends follow a linear progression, we have different regressions for different data sets.

The different regression options on your calculator are as follows.

Quadratic, Cubic, Quartic, Power, Exponential, Logarithmic, Sinusoidal, Logistic

We can't discuss an correlation coefficient for these curves, since the correlation coefficient tells us the direction and strength of a LINEAR correlation only. We have a new variable to discuss the strength of any correlation. This variable is called the coefficient of determination ()

can take values from 0 to 1, with 1 being very strong and 0 being very weak correlations.
