Instruction for Safety Presentations
1. Each individual or small group (2 students) is required to
create a set of notes on PowerPoint about one of the
dangers listed in the chart.
- Your presentation should consider;
- content -
- sources of the danger - should be presented with
emphasis on sources within the classroom, and sources which
occur in everyday life (school, home) and working life which
may or may not not be readily apparent. What do we look for
to identify these dangers?
- avoidance of the danger - should be presented with
emphasis on safety equipment (available and to be used) and
safety practice within the classroom.
- emergency procedures - For emergency procedures list
examples of things to do in event of an emergency. (This
course is not intended to be a substitute for a complete
first aid course. In some cases under emergency procedures
"apply first aid" will be filled in. Students are encouraged
to take a first aid course when possible.)
- organization -
- a presentation should have a beginning (introduction, to
let the audience know what the presentation will be about
and why it is important to them), body (your main points)
and an end (conclusion, or summary of main points)
- the presentation should have a logical flow
- style - (interest, enthusiasm, approach)
- the presentation should be eye-catching without being an eye-sore.
- timing -
- make sure that the presentation isn't too long.
- reduce redundancies, be succinct.
- technique -
- students in a group should both be involved with the
presentation
The PowerPoint presentation shall demonstrate the following skills
(at the least);
- 4 slides
- title
- sources
- avoidance / prevention
- emergency procedures
- 3 transitions
- 3 bullets
- 2 graphics
- 3 headings
2. Each group must present their information and while that is
going on each student must complete the entire chart. (Students will
not be allowed to work in the model shop unless this chart has been
completed.)
