History of the Americas is a study of both U.S. History and Latin American History from the European exploration of the Americas to the beginning of the Twentieth Century. Students will focus on topics which are covered by “Paper Three” which is the essay portion of the I.B. Exam which focuses on the Americas. Another important component of this class will be the research and composition of the History Internal Assessment, a paper which will allow each student to explore in-depth one history topic of his or her own choosing. This course fulfills the graduation requirement for one credit of social studies for the advanced academic or regular diploma.
