TASK: In this assignment you will look at one MDG more closely.
You will create a product which will inform and persuade the audience to meet
the goal by 2015.
PROCESS:
1. Choose an MDG and let your teacher know your choice as soon as you can. Read
over the rubric for this assignment.
2. You will conduct research about the MDG. It is important to understand the
MDG, what has been done so far and what needs to be done in order to meet the
goal by 2015.
3. Identify your audience. Is your product intended to persuade a Canadian audience
or an audience in a developing country? Are you targeting an adult audience
or an audience of your peers?
4. Write a one-page (double-spaced) statement of intent that clearly identifies
the choices you have made and the reasons for those choices.
5. Create your product; you may create a poster, short video (60 – 90
seconds), comic, play, news report or an option of your choice (pre-approved
at least three weeks prior to due date). Be creative and have fun with this!
Research Criteria
Your jot notes need to include the following components:
• Evidence of researching from at least 4 sources
• Jot notes must include analysis (your thoughts and comments) on the
paraphrased points. You can analyse a group of jot notes at a time, rather than
each one individually.
• Works cited list using APA style. You can search the internet for an
APA guide.
Product Criteria:
Your product needs to include the following components:
• Show that you clearly understanding this particular MDG - the goal,
the current status (show change relative to 1995), and what is needed to achieve
the goal by 2015.
• Inform and persuade the audience to be a part of meeting the MDG. Keep
in mind the conventions of the product that you have chosen
• The product reflects the decisions you have made in terms of what your
audience needs to do to help meet the goal
