Physics Laboratory Write Up and Instruction

You should include an index at the beginning of your lab binder.

There are three references listed here (in addition to the instruction given in class) that students can use to improve the quality (and mark) of their laboratory work and reports.

  • Click on the Laboratory Format link which will direct you to instruction regarding the expectations of the content and format of each section of the lab report.
  • Laboratory Assessment and Instruction Links provide links to details of the assessment and the expectations that are needed to get a "c" (complete) on any specific aspect of the assessment.
  • Click on Lab Safety links for supplemental (to the instruction in class) safety reference material for your consideration in experimental design.
  • Click on Laboratory Concepts and Detailed Instruction links for supplemental instruction in dealing with concepts and skills; e.g. graphing dealing with uncertainty etc.

You must include the sections which are specified in the instructions for a particular experiment. Depending on the suitability and emphasis of a particular experiment some or all of the listed sections may be required.
