Electrical Circuit Analysis Lab
In this lab you will be assigned and given 4 resistors. You will need to identify
the resistor values and the tolerances on those values based on the colour codes
painted on the resistors. They are to be connected according to the circuit
diagram below on a breadboard. You will apply the specified electrical potential
and measure V3.

Pre Lab
- resistor colour codes - do research to identify the value of the resistors
and their tolerances from the colour codes on the resistors.
- breadboard (instructions
for use of breadboard here)
- each student will be assigned specific resistors for R1 to R4 and a specified
V1 (supply voltage)
- students should complete a preliminary calculation of expected power dissipated
in each resistor to ensure it is below 1/4 W. (error propagation not required
in this step)
- electrical safety
- equipment information
Lab
- Build circuit and measure V3 (voltage across R3)
- Verify whether the measured value falls within the theoretical value. (emphasis
error analysis)
