Pendulum Lab

 With a string and a small mass create a pendulum. To determine the period of a pendulum measure the time for several cycles and dived the total time by the number of cycles.

Part 1

Create an infomal experiment to determine which varibles affect the period of the pendulum; the amplitude, the length of string, and the mass of the pendulum. Answer the following;

1. Which of the three variables affected the period of the pendulum?

Part 2

For a small amplitude measure the period for several lengths of pendulum between 100 mm and 2000 mm. Assuming the length is related to the Period by the function L=bT^m, determine the constants b and m using 2 cycle log log paper. Answer the following;

2. How do your results compare to equation 11-11a on page 319 of your text? (rearrange equation 11-11a to the form in the lab)
