- Explicitly state the purpose or research question
of the investigation. Why is this investigation being conducted?
- Usually the purpose is to determine by experiment
a value and compare the value with a known or accepted value. e.g. to
determine the charge of an electron (and compare to a known charge)
- A research questions should be focussed and specific, investigating
the relationship between two variables.("investigate the effects
of X on Y").
- State the question in terms of the independent,
dependent and control variables.
