Electrical Safety
- This list is intended to supplement classroom instruction. To the best of
my knowledge these instructions are correct but are by no means exhaustive
Using these instructions without additional clarification and instruction
may be dangerous.
- Do not complete labs which involve electricity unless under the direct supervision
of your instructor in their presence.
- Do not connect power until the circuit has been checked by the instructor.
- In general students should not use power sources above 40 V. This includes
mains!
- Be aware of the circuit you are using. It is very easy to "step up"
the voltage in circuits to a dangerous level even if you are using a save
power supply voltage. Have your (method) circuits checked before connection.
- If you detect anything too hot or smell "something burning" disconnect
the power.
- Do not "experiment" beyond what has been approved and checked.
