Rubrics may be used to asses laboratory and assignments handed in in IB 1 and IB 2 physics courses.
When OSSD style rubrics are used, then the standard which all students should attempt to reach are defined for the assignment to be graded as a Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4. Level 3 is the standard which all students should attempt to reach. The marks assigned for each of these levels range as follows.
A + (plus) or a - (minus) may be added to the mark and soft converted to the following equivalent percentages for determination of the final grade.

Factors to determine assigned mark within the range of marks;
Once the level of achievement has been determined in the rubric as a Level 1 to Level 4 then a "+" or "-" may be added to the level to assign the mark to the higher or lower end of the range of marks allocated for that level of achievement. The following is a sample of the factors which may be considered to determine whether a "=" or a "-" will be designated.
