SKETCHING - ASSESSMENT RUBRIC

	LEVEL 1	LEVEL 2	LEVEL 3	LEVEL 4
Application SKETCHES	Sketches showing design and development progression are completed and included in report and/or in poster.	Level 1 + Sketches clearly delineate details about the design.	Level 1&2+ Sketches are of proper type. A variety of sketch types are used which are suitable to communicate or record the design idea(s) presented. Sketches show appropriate level of detail.	Level 1&2&3+ Presentation of sketches is exemplary.

INDICATORS

Level 1

• These can be a original sketch(s) or scans of the sketches (which is preferred).

Level 2

• If a sketch does not completely explain the design concept, then notes are often added to the sketch to explain.

Level 3

• Sketches should be; orthographic, oblique, cabinet oblique, isometric, one point perspective, two point perspective or three point perspective.
• You may use section, auxiliary views, detail views, and or exploded views.
• Sketches should be roughly proportional but not necessarily to scale.

Level 4

• Exemplary presentation of sketches involves choosing to present (and draw) appropriate sketches to present your design ideas and the progression of the design.
• The presentation may be enhanced by, adding a consistent border or mounting, adding some rendering (colour, shading) or by having sketches which are clean and clear.
