HOUSE STRUCTURE	Student has a knowledge of the names and function of the major structrual elements of a house.	Level 1+ Determine joist sizes for problems usingcalculations and building code tables. INDICATORS

HOUSE STRUCTURE

Level 1

• must identify and/or describe the function of 80% of the structural components of a house in a quiz.

Level 2

• Assignment to be given.

Level 3

• A sketch or CAD drawing in 2-d should show the location of beams below (as centre lines), joist locations and length to scale (show as lines). Note: distance between joists should be to scale. Show the floor sheathing. Show openings in the structure for stairs, or any other openings required by your design.

Level 4

• Cost should include the cost of joists, sheathing, header hoists, sill plate, supporting basement wall or beams and posts. Yopu may include fasteners. This can be completed in 2-d or 3-d CAD. Cost estimates are fine. The cost breakdown should be completed on a spreadsheet with the following headings as a minimum; item, quantity, description, cost each, cost totatl and total material cost (before tax and shipping)
