Rubric Assessment in Design Technology Courses

Rubrics are used to asses many of the assignments assigned in the Design and Technology courses. The rubrics contain the requirements for the assignment to be graded as a Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4. Level 3 is the standard which all students should attempt to reach. The marks assigned for each of these levels range as follows.

Factors to determine assigned mark within the range of marks;

Once the level of achievement has been determined in the rubric as a Level 1 to Level 4 then a "+" or "-" may be added to the level to assign the mark to the higher or lower end of the range of marks allocated for that level of achievement. The following is a sample of the factors which may be considered to determine whether a "=" or a "-" will be designated.

Factors for a 4++

Factors for which assigned marks are at the higher end of the range (or a +)

Factors for which assigned marks are at the lower end of the range
