Complete The Carleton University Industrial Design Competition

Steps

• note - keep records (usually in the form of sketches of all your ideas and design progression)
• note - see the assessment and evaluation rubric

• Choose a Category in the Competition
• Define the Design Problem
  • Define the problem not the solution.
  • Define the scope of the design.
• Apply the Design Method to Solve the Design Problem; using research, creative idea generation and testing.
  • Keep the sketches which show the design progression.
  • Keep records of all your research and testing.
• Resolve a Final Design
  • Make a decision as to the configuration of the final design and describe it by sketch and or description.
• Create a Virtual or Physical Model for the Final Design
  • Virtual models must be rendered and printed for presentation.
  • Physical models must be photographed
• Create a Design Report
• Create a Poster Presentation
• Create all other requirements of a submission to the competition and enter the competition.
  • If completed on time Your instructor will look after postage there and back. Your instructor will not check for incomplete entries.

What to Hand In

• All the requirements of an entry to the competition (your responsibility, see rules) This includes but is not limited to;
  • Design Report
  • Poster Presentation
