Testing a Product, Service or Model

For the Testing requirement of the Carleton University Design Competition you must.....

• Create a Test Plan
• Complete testing on your project.
• Create a test report

Here is a sample of a test plan for a design of a flashlight.

Test Number	Requirement	Test method
1	Should illuminate an object 20 m away, clearly enough to be visible.	Functional test. See method in Appendix C
2	Must include the following features; wrist strap, must fit two AA batteries, must be able to switch on and off while holding with one hand	Checklist, See Appendix C
3	Must have good workmanship	Visual inspection for finish quality, dimensional accuracy, and general fit. See Appendix C for detail list.
4	Must be less than 200 mm long and 60 mm in diameter	Dimensional Measurement
5	Must have a mass lower than 250 g, with batteries in	Mass Taken
7	Must be judged by consumers as being an attractive visual design compared to other flashlights.	Survey of Students. See Appendix C for survey Questions
