Design and Draw a Steel Beam For the House
- Use the Steel Beam design link to design the steel beam in the
basement in the location specified in the initial sketch.
- Keep all Calculations in the Appropriate Format
- Draw in the Steel Beam in your CAD drawing.
- Your beam must be created at a suitable height that a 2x6
(lumber size) laid on top of
the beam will be equal in height to the top of the sill plate
connected to the foundation wall.
- You must make a pocket in the concrete foundation wall at
least 3.5 inches into each wall to support the ends of the
beam.
- You must extrude a reasonably accurate section profile of
the beam.
- You must put 3" dia. steel posts at suitable intervals to
support the beam.
- Your posts will need a hole (just slightly larger than
the post) clipped from the bsmt floor slab and it will need
a 16"x16"x8" thick square footing under it
