Design and Draw a Wood Beam For the House
- Use the Wood Beam design lesson to design a wood beam in the
basement in the location specified in the initial sketch.
- Keep all Calculations in the Appropriate Format
- Draw in the wood beam in your CAD drawing.
- Your beam must be created at a suitable height such that
the top of the beam will be equal in height to the top of the
sill plate connected to the foundation wall.
- You must make a pocket in the concrete foundation wall at
least 3.5 inches into the wall to support the end of the beam.
The other end will be connected to the steel beam
- You must extrude the beam using the actual
lumber size.
- You must put 3" dia. steel posts at suitable intervals to
support the beam.
- Your posts will need a hole (just slightly larger than
the post) clipped from the bsmt floor slab and it will need
a 16"x16"x8" thick square footing under it.
