Layout Assignment Checklist
- Set Up the Page for the Orthographic Layout
- Set up the page as A size in Landscape (or horizontal)
orientation
- Create or transfer from another drawing an appropriate
title block and border on a layer with a scale of 1:1.
- On a new layer calculate and select an appropriate scale
for the layout
- Make some quick sketches on paper of the layout. Measure the
height and depth of the robot from the actual robot parts. Measure
all other pertinent dimensions. Put these measurements on your
sketches.
- Draw the Cad Layout of the Arm Extended
- Draw the body and wheels
- Draw the arm base and arm components extended out.
- Draw the Cad Layout of the arm in extreme positions and in the
position in which it will pick up a coffee cup from a table.
- These should be shown in phantom line, fine line or
different colour to distinguish them from the outstretched
arm.
- Draw arcs along the paths of motion of the centres of the
shafts which the arm parts rotate.
- Add dimensions to the drawing
- robot height, depth
- centre distances between shafts which arm rotates (on arm
outstretched)
- distance from shoulder to load (coffee cup, with arm
outstretched)
- any other pertinent dimensions
- Print out your 2-D layout.
- Set up the 3-Space Space Claim Drawing
- Create, locate and orient major robot parts. (body wheels
etc.)
- Create, locate and orient major arm parts.
- Add detail
- Print out, Render if desired.
