For the summative each student must ,

1. choose a suitable topic,
2. create a proposal for the project and get it approved,
3. determine the deliverables for the project,
4. and create a project plan.

Choice of Project

• The topic categories for the TDJ4M summative project are;
  • Categories
    • Architectural Project
    • Robotic Project
    • Industrial Design Project
  • Topic
    • Suggested projects in each category will be provided, or you may propose to define your own project (subject to approval).
    • The project should have
      • a suitable difficulty level,
      • create the deliverables as defined below,
      • and be suitable for the assessment strategy also defined below (The project should follow the design process, communicate technological ideas, and demonstrate proficiency in using software and tools). The project should demonstrate what you have learned in the course.
      • Often students design the project to meet their interests and /or add to a portfolio of work.

Assessment

• The summative will be assessed using the Generic Achievement Charts (Rubrics) For TDJ 4M Projects

Deliverables

• This project must create a number of deliverables for assessment. (items that can be handed in) These will include;
  • items which demonstrate thinking and inquiry skills
    • must have
      • a proposal,
      • a plan,
      • a specification, technical report or equivalent written evidence of the following of the design process
    • may have
      • sketches
      • design file
  • items which demonstrate communication skills
    • must have
      • a dimensioned orthographic drawing
    • may have
      • drawing package
      • design file
      • sketches
      • poster
      • reports
      • instruction manuals
  • items which demonstrate application skills
    • must have
      • a virtual model or a physical construction or a physical model
    • may have
      • both virtual and physical model
