Steps to Change the Multisim Parameters if The Simulation Hangs

1.0 Add a ground to the negative end of the power supply.

2.0 Under the menu Simulate go to Default Instrument Settings

• verify that (TSTART) is set to zero
• check box Set maximum timestep
• set Maximum time step to 0.001 sec

3.0 Click on the Miscellaneous Options Tab on the top of the same Default Instrument Settings window.

3.1 Select retol (3rd from the top)

• check box 'Use this option'
• set Option Value to 0.01

  3.2 Scroll to the bottom of the window and select rshunt

• change option value to 1e+08

These changes should solve the problem. If the problem is not resolved it may not be the fault of the simulation but may be some other problem. See your instructor if the problem persists. Some components (especially transformers) can cause the simulation to hang.
