INDICATORS

Level 1

• Calculations should
  • be complete and handed in.
• Graphs should

Level 2

• Calculations
  • style should be consistent.
  • should be legible.
  • be generally correct in approach. (but may have one or more minor mistakes causing error in the final results)
    • The calculation should demonstrate that the student has a thorough understanding of most of the calculation and the approach to the overall calculation.
• Graphs
  • styles should be consistent.
  • should be legible.

    • The graphs should demonstrate that the student has a thorough overall understanding of the approach to the data analysis.

Level 3

•  Calculations should
  • results should be calculated correctly
    • one or more minor errors may lead to a minor error in the results
  • results should claim appropriate significant digits
  • should contain units or include dimensional analysis
    • units should be expressed and be correct
  • be clear and in specified format
    • an indication of the page number and total number of pages.
    • information at the top including;
      • a title
      • your name
      • the date
    • equal signs aligned vertically
    • have any assumptions or given data clearly indicated
    • answers underlined or otherwise clearly marked
  • computed data must have at least one complete example calculation (and may have spreadsheet formulas completed)
• Graphs should
  • be clear and correct in format
  • be interpreted correctly
  • have data points delineated clearly
  • have line of best fit located correctly (not necessarily through (0,0)
• Interpretation of the results should be reasonable

Level 4

• Calculations should;
  • be easily read and exceedingly clear
    • clearly written, well spaced.
    • sub headings should be used to allow the marker to follow what is being calculated.
    • diagrams should be used where appropriate to provide clarity
    • pages must be in the correct order
    • symbols used correctly
    • fastened as specified (staple in top left corner)
    • all information in correct location when specified
    • variables should be defined and unambiguous
    • vectors should be identified as such
    • be presented in the most concise way possible perhaps with a spreadsheet or other computer program,
• Graphs should
  • have no minor errors
• Interpretation of the results should be insightful.
