ASSESSMENT RUBRIC
INDICATORS
Level 1
- The lab report contains a hypotheisis.
Level 2
- The hypothesis must be susinct, specific and testable.
Level 3
- The hypothesis must;
- be authentic by predicting what you expect will happen (not
be a description of what did happen).
- must be reasonable with a justification of why the
prediction was made.
Level 4
- The explanation is
- based on scientific principles
- not absolute, should be open to the idea of investigation
and testing.
- should be in the 'future' tense
Factors for which assigned marks are at the higher
end of the range (or a +)
- consistent - student consistently displays this level of
achievement
- assignment completed on time
- work is well organized
- work is clear, neat
- aesthetically pleasing (looks nice)
- accurate
- well referenced
- attention to detail
- completion or demonstration of a greater number of
indicators
- explanations have a high degree of clarity
Factors for which assigned marks are at the lower
end of the range
- lacks consistency - student may not always reach this level of
achievement
- assignment not done by due date
- assignment resubmitted in order to increase level
- out of order, difficult to navigate through
- messy
- inaccurate
- poorly referenced
- inattentive to detail
- completion or demonstration of a lesser number of
indicators
- not fully explained
