INDICATORS

Level 1

• lab prep handed in
• student has some knowledge of the procedure but may need help in order to know what to do

Level 2

• lab prep includes all required sections complete
• student knows what to do but may miss some fundamental aspect of the experiment and may not be able to focus questions regarding this misunderstanding

Level 3

•  Lab is written up prior to the lab being completed including the following sections
  • Headings and Format are as per pp. 560 to 564 in Text.
  • Title (page)
  • Question
  • Design -
    • must include a diagram
    • method
    • list apparatus
    • materials
  • Observation section (you wont be able to include actual observations until you do the experiment, but you can get ready to collect the data)
• student understands the experiment and is able to ask focussed questions to clear up details of anything

Level 4

• Lab prep write up
  • contains blank tables are included to collect data in
  • is word processed
  • a rough calculation to predict the approximate data you may expect is attached (but not a part of the report)
• student is very familiar with the experimental procedure, apparatus and materials

Factors for which assigned marks are at the higher end of the range (or a +)

• consistent - student consistently displays this level of achievement
• assignment completed on time
• work is well organized
• work is clear, neat
• aesthetically pleasing (looks nice)
• accurate
• well referenced
• attention to detail
• completion or demonstration of a greater number of indicators

Factors for which assigned marks are at the lower end of the range

• lacks consistency - student may not always reach this level of achievement
• assignment not done by due date
• assignment resubmitted in order to increase level
• out of order, difficult to navigate through
• messy
• inaccurate
• poorly referenced
• inattentive to detail
• completion or demonstration of a lesser number of indicators
